Located in the Piney Woods region of East Texas, this gorgeous lake and state park is only two hours from Dallas. This tranquil spot is an easy fall weekend getaway, perfect for some late-season kayaking and fall views from Lake Tyler.
Caddo Lake lies on the border of Texas and Louisiana, a short and scenic three hours from Dallas. This spot has mystical, low-hanging trees over the water and more than enough space to find space to stretch out along the water. Try canoeing through the bayou with the mild fall weather and magical scenery.
Want to explore more of the heart of Texas? Colorado Bend State Park falls smack-dab in the middle of the state and is an easy 3 hours from Dallas. Pumpkin Nights should be at the top of your list if you can never get enough of the fall spirit. Howell Farms in Arlington hosts this event and takes the nature of the season seriously, with over 3,000 expertly-carved pumpkins on display. Ogle at 10-foot tall jack-o-lanterns, the world’s largest pumpkin guitar, and other larger-than-life displays as you enjoy games, booths, vendors, performances, and so much more.

Spooky season should not be ignored on your Dallas fall calendar! Luckily, Plano’s 30,000-square-foot Dark Hour Haunted House is full of blood-curdling frights. With high-tech special effects and incredibly-dedicated actors, this haunted house is one of the scariest in the nation. So are you up for the scares?
